SAXON HOUSE

Client: Thomas Lawrence & Sons Ltd

Architect: Spratley & Partners

Saxon house involved the extension to this large industrial unit. With the inclusion of three new bays tapered on plan to the rear corner. In order to minimise on the impact to the working unit the end bay was isolated with a temporary full height hoarding. This enabled new structure to be installed either side of the existing gable columns to create the full width steel truss. This minimised on replacement structure benefitting the programme and environment. New steel portal frames formed the end bays with a polished RC slab to the industrial unit floor.

The removal of the gable end would have caused massive time and cost disruption to this project and it was the creative design approach that really helped this project succeed.
