CHARLBURY ROAD

This substantial detached property, originally constructed in 1915, occupies one of the largest plots in North Oxford. The project involved the careful refurbishment, rationalisation and extension of the existing 8,188 sq ft home, requiring a considered structural approach to preserve the character of the original building while enabling modern family living.

Boulder Consultants provided structural engineering support for the transformation of the existing property, working closely with the design team to develop solutions that respected the building’s historic fabric while accommodating the proposed alterations and improvements. The project required careful consideration of the existing structure, ensuring that new interventions integrated seamlessly with the original building.

Through a sensitive and coordinated approach, the engineering solutions supported the restoration of the property’s architectural features while creating a flexible and functional home for modern use.The completed project demonstrates how thoughtful structural design can help unlock the potential of existing buildings, balancing refurbishment, extension and preservation to create sustainable long-term spaces.
